Police Thwart Kidnapping Plot, Successfully Rescue Victim in Jigawa State
In a recent operation, the Jigawa State Police Command thwarted a kidnapping attempt and successfully rescued the intended victim, ensuring their safety in Babura Local Government Area. The police spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, disclosed this in an official statement on Monday, September 18, 2023.
According to the statement, armed hoodlums invaded Kwanar Garki in Babura LGA on the evening of September 17, 2023, kidnapping Isyaku Umar, aged 37, and injuring Ahmad Abdullahi, aged 30, during the incident. Promptly acting upon receiving the report, the police team swiftly rescued the kidnapped victim and rushed both the victims to Babura General Hospital for medical attention.
The kidnapped victim was treated and discharged, reuniting with his family, while Ahmad Abdullahi, the injured individual, was transferred to Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital in Dutse for further treatment. In response to a distress call suggesting the kidnappers were headed towards Ringim Area, the police, in collaboration with a vigilante group, conducted a stop and search operation, causing the suspects to abandon their vehicle and flee.
During the search of the abandoned vehicle, a significant discovery was made, including an AK-47 rifle, live ammunition, a magazine, and a mobile phone. The State Commissioner of Police, CP Effiom Emmanuel Ekot, commended the dedicated efforts of the police personnel and directed them to intensify their efforts to apprehend the fleeing criminals and bring them to justice.
